Ma Shaoping

Professor Ma Shaoping received B.E. and M.E. degree from the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University in 1982 and 1984 respectively. He went to Japan attending in an advanced study for one year since 1991. He has got his Ph.D degree from Tsinghua University in 1997. At present, he is a professor of the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, director of Machine Learning Institute of China, and the assistant master director of Beijing Computer Institute.
His main research area includes knowledge engineering, information retrieval, Chinese character recognition and post-processing, and digitizing technologies for Chinese ancient books. He has published 2 textbooks and more than 50 papers. As project leader, he takes charge in several projects of National Natural Science Foundation, some other key projects of Chinese government, and international cooperation projects. He has reached advanced level in the fields of off-line handwritten Chinese character recognition and post-processing.
